Hei! Olen puuseppä Katri. Luonto ja metsä ovat aina olleet minulle tärkeitä. Ne merkitsevät minulle rauhaa, leikkiä, luonnon pysäyttämätöntä kiertokulkua.

Vuonna 2010 elämä johdatti minut Pohjois-Savoon ja muutimme puolisoni ja vastasyntyneen tyttäreni kanssa Pien Koskelan tilalle Vesannolle 2012. Täällä olomme aikana minusta on tullut äiti yhteensä neljälle lapselle. Perheeseemme on aina kuulunut lisäksi eläimiä; tällä hetkellä päiviämme vilkastuttaa kaksi vinttikoiraa ja kissa. 

Tilallamme kasvaa metsää - villiä, monimuotoista ja kaunista. jo.ka galleryn tarina alkoi, kun aloin nähdä polttopuiksi kaadettujen puiden rungoissa muutakin kuin lämmönlähteen. Testasin, tutustuin, opiskelin, suunnittelin ja kehitin. Olen aina rakastanut puuta materiaalina ja pian minulla oli pystyssä oma verstas. Lähes kaikki materiaali teoksiini tulee siis omasta metsästämme tämän pienimuotoisen ja koneettoman / käsin tehtävän metsänhoidon sivutuotteena. Tuotantoketju on läpinäkyvä ja lyhyt, suurimmaksi osaksi oman pihapiirin mittainen ja kestävän kehityksen arvoja aidosti kunnioittava.

Teen pieniä ja uniikkeja eriä eikä teosteni käyttötarkoitusta ole rajattu; lelut sopivat sisustuselementeiksi, käyttöesineet ovat samalla taideteoksia ja koruilla voi leikkiä.

Hi I am Katri, wood carpenter from Finland.. Nature and forest have always played a big role in my life. As a kid the woods were my favourite playing ground and growing up I have always turned to nature for peace of mind, inspiration and tranquility

In 2012 fate lead me, my partner and our new born baby to Northern Savonia and Vesanto. In the old and cosy small farm called Pien Koskela my family has grown and I now am a mother of four. We have always had four-legged family members as well; currently two sighthounds and a cat spice up our days. At the moment I am studying woodcarpentry.

We have forest around the house, wild, diverse and beautiful, and the forest needs to be taken care of. The story of jo.ka gallery began when I began to see the new shapes and stories in the tree trunks that were going to be firewood. I tested, planned, studied and designed, I totally fell in love with the beautiful natural material and the processes and soon I had my very own workshop up and running. The supply chain is short and totally transparent, everything is done manually with high respect for craftsmanship, nature and genuine sustainability. All the treatments and paints I use are natural and nontoxic.

I produce small batches and unique pieces. The products are multi-functional; the toys can be used as interior decoration or artwork, the accessories can be toys etc.

At the moment the shop is only open to Finnish customers but if you see something you like, just send me a message here info@jokagallery.fi or through instagram @jo.ka_gallery. I also take custom orders and ship abroad.
